What the extension does
Design Audit is a Chrome extension that analyzes the design of the websites you visit (design tokens, colors, typography, icons, grid, spacing and accessibility against WCAG) and shows the results in a side panel. All analysis happens locally, in your browser.
Data collected
- Design data: design tokens, colors, fonts, icons, measurements and accessibility findings from the sites you audit.
- Audited pages: the address (URL) of each page analyzed while the side panel is open, and when it was analyzed, so results can be combined across pages and the report can list the pages it covers.
Both are stored only on your device, in chrome.storage.local, and used only to display results and generate reports. Nothing is recorded while the side panel is closed.
The extension does not collect passwords, form contents or any personal information from the sites you visit. It reads design values (CSS) and page structure, not what you type. There are no accounts and no login.
Data storage
Audit data stays on your device. You can delete it at any time with Clear All Data in the extension, or by removing the extension from Chrome.
Third-party services
None. The extension does not send any data to any server.
To read design tokens, the extension may download the stylesheets (CSS files) that the page you are auditing already loads from another domain, such as a CDN, because the browser does not let it read them from the page. These are plain requests for the same public files, made without cookies; the files are analyzed locally and nothing about you or your audits is sent with them.
The Support section of the extension only displays a PayPal email address that you can copy. The extension sends nothing to PayPal; any donation you choose to make happens entirely on PayPal, under PayPal's own privacy policy.
Data sharing and selling
We do not share, sell, rent or transfer your data to third parties.
Your rights
- Delete audit data: click Clear All Data in the extension, or remove the extension.
